How to avoid becoming a PhD student – PhD program in Australia

The best way to avoid having a PhD in Australia is to get your degree elsewhere, according to a PhD program.
Professor Ian M. Breen, a senior lecturer in social and behavioural sciences at the University of Queensland, said the lack of international students was one of the biggest barriers to getting a job.
“It’s not just that we don’t have enough international students coming here, but also that there’s a huge amount of barriers to doing research, because the Australian economy is so dependent on the global economy,” he said.
“So the only way to be able to work in Australia and get a job is to have a PhD somewhere.”
He said he was also frustrated that universities were not offering support for students after they had completed their degree.
“They’re not providing the kind of support that’s required, and they’re not doing the kind and level of research that the industry needs,” Professor Breen said.
