Loyalty program will pay for Disney’s new TV network
POLITICO, -0.08% The new Disney Channel, which will begin broadcasting in the fall, will be the network’s second.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement that the channel’s “first two seasons will be exclusive to the Disney Channel on ESPN2 and Disney XD, as well as on the Disney Family, Disney XD and Disney Plus subscription service.”
The new channel will have a lineup of original shows and movies, a revamped lineup of programming including original series and documentaries, and Disney Family content.
Disney has made a major push in recent years to compete with networks such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon, and has recently been working on an exclusive agreement with HBO.
